For the first experiment we chose to drive around with the accelerometer. Emily was driving while Anna held the accelerometer. As Emily accelerated, the cork moved to the front on the jar in the direction of the acceleration. We then came to an immediate stop, which caused the cork to move back to the middle of the jar. This happened because the water inside the jar is more dense than the cork. Knowing this, we realized the water had more inertia then the cork thus being able to stay at rest (Newton's 1st Law). As both tried to remain at rest, the water was stronger at keeping this position, therefore causing the cork to move towards the acceleration.
